Jaclyn Sollars from Avalon Photography will lead the Photo Shoot Night, focusing on “reflections.”  A visit to the inside of a historic downtown building is also planned.  Anyone interested in learning more about photography or just taking some great shots of downtown Lima can meet on Thursday, July 12th, in the Lima Town Square in front of the Veterans Memorial Civic Center at 6 pm.  The photo walk is free and open to the public.  All skills levels are invited – attendees are asked to bring a camera and be ready for inspiration.  After the walk, around 8 pm, a Q&A session with Jaclyn Sollars will be held at The Meeting Place on Market.

Jaclyn Sollars is an internationally recognized fine art photographer. Her work has been published internationally as cover art on several novels, as advertising art, in magazines, and has been used as marketing imagery for the major motion picture “Red Riding Hood”. Her art has also been shown at Cornell University and The Vermont PhotoPlace Gallery. She has owned Avalon Photography in Lima, Ohio since 2003.

Starting August 1st, photo entries may be submitted to the “Downtown Lima More Than You Know” photography competition.  Both amateur and professional photographers are invited to submit photographs taken within downtown Lima during 2012.  A grand prize of $200 will be awarded to the Best of Show winner.  Additional winners in each people, places and things category, and each age division, will be awarded at $50 each.  Selected photographs will be on display at various locations in downtown Lima throughout October.   Winners will be announced at the exhibit’s opening night and awards ceremony on September 27th, starting in the WinGate Inn.

Other shoot nights are planned throughout the summer.  On Tuesday, August 14th, 6 pm, Michael Ayers from The Ayers Incorporated will lead a photo safari, starting from the Lima YMCA.  For more information and complete competition rules, please visit Downtown Lima’s web site:  https://downtownlima.wordpress.com/2012/06/14/downtown-lima-more-than-you-know-2012-photography-competition-rules/
