Downtown Lima Photo Competition Launches with Photo Shoot Night June 14th

Culminates in Round Robin Photo Exhibit in the Fall

Lima, OH – Downtown Lima is excited to announce the start of the annual Downtown Lima “More Than You Know” Photography Competition with a Photo Shoot Night on Thursday, June 14^th, 2012.

Lima News photographer Jay Sowers will lead the first Photo Shoot Night of the summer.  Anyone interested in learning more about photography or just taking some great shots of downtown Lima can meet on Thursday, June 14^th, in the Lima Town Square in front of the Veteran’s Memorial Civic Center.  Starting at 6 pm, Jay Sowers will lead the group to various locations, and give tips and answer questions related to photography.  The photo walk is free and open to the public.  All skills levels are invited – attendees are asked to bring a camera and be ready for inspiration.

Starting August 1^st, photo entries may be submitted to the competition.  Both amateur and professional photographers are invited to submit photographs taken within downtown Lima during 2012.  A grand prize of $200 will be awarded to the Best of Show winner.  Additional winners in each people, places and things category, and each age division, will be awarded at $50 each.  Selected photographs will be on display at various locations in downtown Lima throughout October.   Winners will be announced at the exhibit’s opening night and awards ceremony in September.

Other shoot nights are planned throughout the summer.  On Thursday, July 12^th, 6 pm, Jaclyn Sollars from Avalon Photography will facilitate the photo shoot night.  On Tuesday, August 14^th, 6 pm, Michael Ayers from The Ayers Incorporated will lead a photo safari.  For more information, please visit Downtown Lima’s web site:  http://www.visitdowntownlima.com.
